My Portfolio
Based in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes, I have over 30
years of experience of working in a drawing office and R&D
environment.
It all started over 30 years ago when I took an engineering
apprentice with Lancer Boss, the Fork Lift Truck manufacturer
in Leighton Buzzard. The first year of the apprenticeship
was spent at Aylesbury Industrial Training Centre, learning
the engineering disciplines of using a lathe, milling machine,
fitting, welding and basic electrics. I was awarded Technician
of the Year. This was also the beginning of a 6 year course
at Aylesbury College taking a full Technological Certificate
(HNC) in engineering where I won the college course prizes
for T3/4 and T5/6. The following 4 years were spend in the
drawing and design office of Lancer Boss, with time on the
shop floor, as a draughtsman producing real drawings on
a real drawing board!! This apprenticeship gave me a good
practical, hands-on background in engineering.
I then moved to Automatic Systems Laboratories (ASL) in
Milton Keynes and spent the next 24 years in the design
office specialising in the mechanical side of electronic
packaging and instrument styling. A lot of my time was spent
involved in marketing and the graphic design of sales literature.
This including converting the existing sales brochures into
an interactive CD to reduce the companies printing budget.
I now have a good background in using computers and hence
have an excellent knowledge using the following software:
- Autocad
- Dreamweaver
- Coreldraw
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Adobe Acrobat Writer
I can therefore offer a useful service for producing documents
using any of these disciplines.
ASL was taken over in 2003 and I became self employed to
concentrate on running my own website business and offering
an engineering and design service. I currently run the following
websites:
I am also the webmaster for the greatest motorcyclist of
the millennium, 9 times World Champion, Mike Hailwood.
